Lynchburg Film Festival
October 27 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT
Lynchburg Film Festival To Screen 20+ New Unreleased International Independent Films at the Academy Center of the Arts On October 27,2024, at 6:00pm.
The first ever Lynchburg Film Festival will be held in the Historic Theater at the Academy Center of the Arts. The festival, presented by Future Contingents in partnership with James River Arts, will screen a carefully curated variety of films from around the world, from a range of cultures and genres. Final film selections to be announced in early October.
Around 20 films are expected to screen, of which 3 are from Lynchburg as well as from Ukraine, France, Turkey, Canada, Egypt, Greece, India, Italy, UK, and Czech Republic. Beyond the films, the event offers a chance for local filmmakers to meet and connect with each other, to share ideas and resources, and talk about films they are working on.
The festival was founded by Emmy Award-winning film producer and director Alex with his wife and co-producer Natalie, who runs the development and operations behind the event. Future Contingents, the Zhort’s film production company, manages the content level of the festival; selecting and processing film submissions and communicating directly with filmmakers. Through their company the festival is registered with the Virginia Production Alliance and the VA Film Office. James River Arts stepped in as a partner in August to provide their brilliant ideas and generous support that made this possible. JRA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that aims to enrich the cultural lives of citizens, to support public arts projects not limited to any creative medium or genre through arts that lift our quality of life, heighten our cultural intelligence, impact our local economy, and deepen our collective sense of humanity.
Thanks to the partnership with James River Arts the event will be FREE to the public. The Lynchburg Film Festival was set up with growth in mind as we work to expand the festival to screen more categories of films over multiple days and become an annual staple to our community; and to provide support and opportunities to our filmmakers.
