You’ve Got a Friend Day

The You’ve Got a Friend Day is a free event that is a vital step towards reaching out to the community’s children who are at an impressionable age and demonstrating to them that the police are their friend and that their safe future requires mutual support between themselves and the police.
The image of the police through various media channels has been confined to situations that entail primarily violence and social destructiveness. The You’ve Got a Friend Foundation wants to help Law Enforcement overcome these perceptions by providing the You’ve Got a Friend Day forum, whereas Law Enforcement can take back the leadership role in defining its true image by meeting the community they serve on a personal level.
One of the highlights offered during the event is the limited edition Police Trading Card scavenger hunt. Upon entering the event, the children will receive a photostatic copy of the trading cards. They will be informed that they are going to be Detectives for today and that their main responsibility is to search out through the event site to locate the twelve Officers and Deputies who are participating. Once an Officer or Deputy is found, it is the Childs responsibility to go up to the officer and ask for their Trading Card. Children who are lucky enough to collect all twelve trading cards will visit the You’ve Got a Friend Foundation Operations Tent to receive a special, You’ve Got a Friend Foundation Detective sticker.
There will be games, inflatables, K9/Police Drone demonstrations and Police/ Educational Displays. Take a chance at taking a dunk our of Crime by dunking Crime in the dunking tank.
